International education

 INFOMATION
 International education
Vancouver Island University is located less than a 20-minute drive from the Nanaimo Airport and a 10-minute drive from downtown Nanaimo and the ferry terminal. Students who are staying in homestay or peerstay will be picked up by their homestay or peerstay families at the point of entry in Nanaimo. Students are advised to arrive a few days before the start of classes to attend an orientation and to visit the Centre for International Education (Building 255), where staff will provide assistance with course selection, registration, and general information about the campus and Nanaimo.

From the Dean of International Education

For more than twenty-five years Vancouver Island University has been a leader in International Education, preparing Canadian and international students to contribute in diverse and innovative ways to a changing world. International students are warmly welcomed at VIU and provided with all the academic and social supports necessary for success in their study programs.

Each year, hundreds of international students graduate from Vancouver Island University with certificates, diplomas or degrees. Some go on to pursue further study in Canada and the U.S. or back in their home countries. Others start exciting careers using their newly acquired professional and practical skills. As VIU alumni they have established ties with friends and colleagues in Canada and around the world that will last a lifetime.

I encourage you to explore the benefits of our first-class, student-centred university for your academic, vocational or English Language studies that will prepare you to take your place in the world. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you require more information.
